”Fire Walking Festival” 福厳寺の火渡り神事

Fire-walking or “Hi-watari” is an event held at many shrines and temples throughout Japan, including the Fukugonji Temple in Komaki. This is not a performance, but a traditional Buddhist ritual. Believers walk barefoot along a seven meter long carpet of burning, hot coals, to pray for protection. Overcome your fear of heat and fire, heal your mind and body, and walk across the hot coals.
